Diagnosis. Chnoodes melanus sp. nov. resembles C. tristis sp. nov. in the black color of the integument, but differs in having the pronotum without lateral spots, in the shape and size of the male genitalia, and in the shape of the spermatheca.

Description. Male. Length 2.84–3.02 mm, width 2.46–2.58 mm. Body rounded, with short fine whitish pubescence. Integument of pronotum, scutellar shield and elytra black, with metallic-brown reflections; pronotum border translucent ( Figs. 6A, D View FIGURE6 ). Head black, antennae and mouthparts orangeish or brownish ( Fig. 6C View FIGURE6 ). Meso- and metaventrite black. Epipleuron black, with deep excavations to receive femora. Legs with femora, tibiae and tarsi orangeish ( Fig. 6B View FIGURE6 ).

Genitalia with tegmen, penis guide, phallobase and parameres symmetrical. Penis guide shorter than parameres, strongly tapered at apex, mammiliform ( Fig. 6E View FIGURE6 ). Parameres articulated with phallobase, distant from each other, 3x longer than penis guide, with long bristles along parameres ( Fig. 6F View FIGURE6 ). Penis sclerotized, J-shaped, apex wide and rounded, penis capsule long, T-shaped ( Fig. 6G View FIGURE6 ).

Female. Length 3.22–3.34 mm, width 2.54–2.68 mm. Similar to male. Genitalia with coxites longer, 3.5x longer than wide, subtriangular; stylus with short bristles ( Fig. 6H View FIGURE6 ). Spermatheca long, C-shaped, strongly curved near base, ramus and nodulus distinct; apex rounded ( Fig. 6I View FIGURE6 ).

Etymology. Latin, melanus = black; referring to the general color.

Geographical Distribution. French Guiana (Régina, Roura) ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 ).
