Notes: ―The holotype of Lasianthus cyanocarpus was destroyed by fire in 1824 and a neotype was designated ( Zhu 2012). Lasianthus cyanocarpus has been confused with L. hirsutus (Roxb.) Merr. (1952:229) because of their overall resemblance, especially in having leaf-like inflorescence bracts. In Thailand, a few species of Lasianthus have leaf-like inflorescences bracts, and in our key, we have grouped those species together. From our survey in the field and on herbarium specimens, L. cyanocarpus is restricted to peninsular Thailand and its characters agree with the protologue ( Jack, 1823).
Lasianthus cyanocarpus is closely related to L. hirsutus , but differs by having: relatively small leaves 8–13.5 × 2.5– 4.5 cm (not 13–20× 5–6 cm) that are cordate or slightly oblique at their bases; short petioles, 2‒3 mm (not 10–15 mm long); stipules inconspicuous, tomentose and persistent (not stipules conspicuous, densely hirsute and relatively permanent); bracteoles numerous and densely tomentose (not absent); drupes ovoid with 4–5 pyrenes (not globose with 5 pyrenes).
