In Serbia, this subatlantic-submediterranean species was known only from Fruška Gora Mt. ( Cvetić & Sabovljević 2005). Herbarium specimen of the published report has been revised recently, and it corresponds to Physcomitrium pyriforme (Hedw.) Hampe. Hence , E. obtusus should be excluded from the bryoflora of Serbia.
