Meleonoma Meyrick, 1914 View in CoL

Meleonoma Meyrick, 1914: 255 View in CoL .

Type species: Cryptolechia stomota, Meyrick, 1910 . TL. India. TD. NHMUK.

Acryptolechia Lvovsky, 2010: 255 .

Type species: Cryptolechia malacobyrsa Meyrick, 1921 . TL: Japan. TD: NHMUK.

Generic characters. Head ( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 a−h): Vertex with scales spreading from lateral margin toward middle; labial palpus three segmented, upturned, third segment shorter than second segment, acute at apex; antenna filiform, shorter than forewing, scape slightly elongate and widened, without pecten.

Thorax ( Figs 6 View FIGURE 6 a−h). Forewing from narrow to broad lanceolate, with long oblique termen; hindwing lanceolate or elongate sub-oval. Venations ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ): Forewing with R 4 and R 5 stalked, R 5 to apex, M 3, CuA 1 and CuA 2 separated; hindwing with Rs, M 1 and M 2 subparallel, M 3 and CuA 1 stalked from lower angle of cell.

Abdomen ( Figs 5 View FIGURE 5 a−h): Tergites with strong spines, arranged in different shape.

Male genitalia ( Figs 7 View FIGURE 7 a−h): Uncus varied in length and shape, smooth or densely setose. Gnathos absent or present; if present, being a circle (in some species with a ventral plate), or either separated, or indistinct ventrally. Valva varied in shape, usually widened medially, or widened from base to apex; transtilla developed or absent; sacculus free from valva entirely or distally, seldom not separated from valva. Phallus often with sclerites or clustered spines.

Female genitalia ( Figs 8 View FIGURE 8 a−h): Papillae anales broad. Lamella postvaginalis and lamella antevaginalis present or absent. Antrum present or absent. Ductus bursae membranous, partly or entirely sclerotized. Corpus bursae with or without granules; signum present or absent.

Diagnosis. The genus Meleonoma Meyrick, 1914 is close to the genus Phaulolechia Diakonoff, 1951 . Meleonoma can be distinguished by the forewing with termen not concave below apex, R 5 extended to costa, and CuA 1 and CuA 2 separated; in Phaulolechia , the termen of the broad forewing is concave below apex, R 5 is extended to termen, and CuA 1 and CuA 2 initiate from the same point ( Diakonoff 1951: 89).

Distribution. The genus Meleonoma is distributed mostly in the Palearctic and the Oriental regions.
