The genus is distributed throughout the Afrotropical, Oriental and Palaearctic Regions ( Krajcik 2008a). Antoine (2006) recognized four subgenera, providing an identification key for them. In the Afrotropical Region there are sixteen recognized species within two subgenera ( Eucampsiura Mikšić, 1987 and Macroma Gory & Percheron, 1833 ) ( Schoolmeesters 2019). There is one species in the subgenus Macroma recorded for Guinea-Bissau ( Brivio 1958).
