Genus Discopeltis Burmeister, 1842

The genus was thoroughly analysed by Holm (1991), who provided an updated diagnosis, a key to the eight valid species, and information on their type specimens and distribution patterns. Later, some species were re-established as valid and a total of sixteen species are now recognized (see updates in Beinhundner 2017b). One species was recorded for Guinea-Bissau ( Brivio 1958) and another one is recorded here for the first time.
