Name-bearing type. The specimen illustrated on the Figure 3 of the Plate 1 of Reptiles (Supplément) of the illustration of Description de l’Egypte ( Anonymous, 1809 –1827) is the lectotype by present designation. This specimen is apparently lost. See above for the original syntypes, now lost. Type locality: not precisely stated, almost certainly Egypt.

Proposed status. Subjective junior synonym of Stenodactylus sthenodactylus ( Lichtenstein, 1823) .
