• Low heathland, grassland, and woodland to denser forest and treeless subalpine habitat, from lowlands to mountain areas.

• 6 genera, 18 species, at least 35 extant taxa.

• 4 species Endangered, 1 species Vulnerable; 1 species and 1 subspecies Extinct since 1600.
