Type locality: Madagascar
Distribution. Indian records: North West Himalayas ( Hampson 1896b), North India ( Rose & Dhillon 1980c), Kerala ( Mathew & Menon 1984). Global records: West and South Africa, Madagascar, Amur ( Hampson 1896b), Vietnam ( Tonkin) ( de Joannis 1930), widespread from the Afrotropical region to Australia, in SE Asia from Thailand, Sumatra, Java, Bali ( Robinson et al. 1994), Réunion ( Viette & Guillermet 1996), Horak (1997): ‘‘probably only on Madagascar’’, Nepal ( Yamanaka 1998).
