Etymology:—In reference to a new genus in Massariaceae and its habitat on twigs

Classification:— Massariaceae , Pleosporales , Dothideomycetes, Ascomycota

Diagnosis:—Morphologically similar to Neomassaria , but mainly distinct in having a peridium with two strata which comprising dark brown to hyaline cells and 3-septate, fusiform ascospores.

Life mode: saprobic; Habitat: on a dead twigs in terrestrial environments. Sexual morph: Ascomata immersed to semi-immersed, solitary or scattered, globose to subglobose, black, ostiolate. Peridium composed of two strata; outer stratum comprising several layers of dark brown to black, thick-walled cells of textura angularis, inner stratum comprising several layers of lightly pigmented to hyaline, thin-walled cells of textura angularis. Hamathecium comprising cylindrical to filiform, trabeculae, rarely branched and septate, embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, cylindrical, t pedicellate. Ascospores hyaline, fusiform, 3-septate, surrounded by a mucilaginous sheath. Asexual morph: Undetermined.
