Notes. We have studied Argentinian specimens that have a color pattern similar to B. lepida , but their male terminalia indicate that they belong in B. rubripennis . These specimens have the ground color of the anterior dorsum (head and pronotum) orange to red with dark brown to black markings as follows: anterior margin of crown with two large spots; posterior margin of crown with pair of maculae extending to ocelli; broad macula over coronal suture; anterior margin of pronotum with two large spots, posterior margin with broad transverse macula connected to median stripe, the latter linked laterally to anterior pair of spots; pronotum with smaller macula behind each compound eye and extending to posterior margin. Mesonotum almost entirely dark brown to black, delimiting pair of oblique orange to red areas. Forewing mostly dark orange to red, without spots.

Material examined. Argentina [New record], Buenos Aires Province. One male: “Reserva Natural de Otamendi \ S 34 13 39.0 W 58 53 57.0 \ 12.ii.2014 sweep Dietrich, \ Takiya, Gonçalves & Camisão” ( MLPA) ; three males: same data as preceding except “ S 34 13 53.0 W 58 53 42.0 \ 12.ii.2014 YPT Dietrich, Takiya, Gonçalves & Camisão” (two males in MLPA, one male in DZRJ) ; one male: same data as preceding except “ S 34 13 39.0 W 58 53 57.0 17.ii.2014 sweep Camisão” ( MNRJ) ; one male, same data as preceding except “ 12–14.ii.2014 Malaise Dietrich, \ Takiya, Gonçalves & Camisão” ( DZRJ) .
