Diagnosis. Body stout. Head ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) with lateral margin of occiput not well defined. Eyes without pubescence. Antennae of female ( Fig. 57 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) pilose, cilindrical, widened towards apex, club 6­segmented, conspicuous. Antennae of male ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) with the first flagellomere shorter than second; the second more or less elongated and curved, distal half more or less swollen. Dorsal margin of pronotal plate ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) rather low; sides of pronotum smooth. Mesoscutum ( Figs. 60 and 61 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) slightly convex in profile, smooth. Dorsal part of scutellum ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) with ridges running from the margin laterally and posteriorly towards the plate and forwards; dorsoposterior part in dorsal view rounded. Scutellar plate ( Figs. 60 and 61 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) long and narrow, convex, weakly elevated, with a circular pit close to the posterior margin of the plate. Mesopleuron ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) without subalar pit. Metapleuron ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) slightly sculptured. Forewings ( Fig. 62 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) hyaline, pubescent, apical margin with hair fringe; marginal cell anteriorly closed; veins pale. Metacoxa ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) with only a few hairs along the posterior margin. Third abdominal tergum of metasoma ( Fig. 60 View FIGURES 56 – 63 ) with very thin hairy ring at base; metasoma distally smooth.

Geographical distribution. Cosmopolitan. In Brazil it is distributed throughout the States of São Paulo ( Nordlander 1980), Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro (new records).

Hosts. Drosophilidae : Drosophila melanogaster (in Nordlander 1980). This species was collected from dipterous puparia in rotten fruits fallen on the ground.

Remarks. Leptopilina Förster, 1869 is a cosmopolitan genus, which includes about 10 species ( Nordlander 1980). L. bourladi is the only species of this genus recorded in Brazil.
