Material examined. Holotype—male, Vietnam: Dak Lak Province, Chu Yang Sin National Park , 12o24’ N, 108o21’ E, Krong Kmar River upper flow, 1000 m, 19 March–2 April 2013, coll. D.N. Fedorenko ( ZISP) GoogleMaps . Paratype: 1 male, same data as for holotype ( ZISP) GoogleMaps . (Altogether 2 males).

Description. Male. Body medium-sized for this genus. Antennae filiform, 14-segmented, 1.7 times as long as fore femur; middle segments (seventh–ninth) 7–8.5 times as long as wide. Antennal grooves situated between lower margins of eyes. Fastigium of vertex 1.7 times as wide as one compound eye seen from above; anterior margin of vertex straight, reaching the frontal line of eyes; lateral margins of not curved; median carina of fastigium distinct; transverse carinae reaching anteriorly the median carina; supraocular lobes vestigial; fossulae deep. Compound eyes not elevated above pronotum in lateral view. Lateral ocelli situated between middle of eyes. Frontal ridge in profile distinctly excised between lateral ocelli, broadly rounded between eyes and gently excised below median ocellus; in frontal view, this ridge diverging downwards and narrow (first antennal segment 1.2 times as wide as ridge near the base of antennae). Pronotum in dorsal view with straight anterior margin; posterior process of pronotum short, reaching apex of hind femora. Disc of pronotum behind the shoulders with a pair of depressions; posterior process of pronotum with numerous short ridges; apex of this process blunt. Lateral sides of shoulders rounded in dorsal view. Median carina of pronotum in profile low and sinuate between shoulders.

Prozonal carinae distinctly constricted backwards; prozona almost as long as wide. Humero-apical carinae distinct; interhumeral carinae long and gently constricted backwards. Tegminal sinus deep; lower part of lateral lobe of pronotum in dorsal view forming triangle lobule. Infrascapular area short. Tegmina narrow with acutely rounded apex; visible part of tegmen 2.8–3 times as long as wide; this part of tegmen 0.7 times as wide as mid femur. Hind wings almost reaching the apex of posterior process of pronotum. Fore femur 3.3–3.6 times, mid femur 3–3.3 times as long as wide; upper and lower side of fore and mid femora almost straight. Hind femur 2.7–2.8 times as long as wide. Upper side of hind tibia with 7 outer and 5 inner spines, with margins finely serrated. First tarsal segment of hind leg as long as third one; ventral side of first tarsal segment with three almost equal triangular pads; third tarsal segment not swollen. Epiproct triangular, with pointed apex. Subgenital plate elongated, 1.6–1.7 times as long as wide; apex of plate excised. Cerci conical, with acutely rounded apices, 1.5–1.6 times as long as wide near cercal base.

General colouration of body blackish brown. Head and eyes dark brown; antennae blackish with light brown rings. Disc of pronotum and lateral lobes blackish brown. Tegmina and hind wings blackish. Fore and mid femora blackish brown. Fore and mid tibia brown with two blackish rings. Hind femora blackish with a few brown marks; the ventral external area blackish brown. Hind tibiae blackish without light rings. Fore and mid legs with both tarsal segments black, but the base of second segment light brown; hind legs with light brown tarsal segments, but second segment and apex of third segments black. Dorsal side of tergites black, upper part of lateral sides of tergites light brown, lower part black. Sternites, epiproct, subgenital plate, and cerci light brown.

Female unknown.

Measurements (mm). Length of male body 10.6–11.2; pronotum 10.3–10.5; antenna 4.3; tegmen 1.4–1.5; fore femur 2.3–2.5; mid femur 2.4–2.7; hind femur 6.7–6.8.

Distribution. Vietnam (Dak Lak Province).

Comparison. New species is most similar to Bolivaritettix nigritibialis Zheng, 2002 from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China (Zheng, 2002) but differs by the shape of frontal ridge and lower part of lateral lobe of pronotum, by broad mid femur and by colouration of hind tibiae (in B. nigritibialis , the frontal ridge in profile weakly excised between lateral ocelli, the lower part of lateral lobe of pronotum in dorsal view forming an obliquely truncate lobule, the mid femur almost as wide as visible part of tegmen, and the hind tibia black with light ring near the base). The new species is also similar to B. celaenotus and B. similis sp. nov. in narrow tegmina and distinctly constricted backwards prozonal carinae but easily recognizable from them in the lower position of antennal grooves (in B. celaenotus and B. similis sp. nov., the grooves situated between lower third of eyes). Habitus of B. constrictus sp. nov. is similar to B. abruptus sp. nov. but in the latter species prozonal carinae are almost parallel.

Etymology. This species name is the Latin adjective “ constrictus ” (limited).
