Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition taken from the Tupi Indian language that means “comb” and refers to the shape and setae of the retrolateral groove of the cymbium of the male palps.

Diagnosis. Males of Uaiuara quyguaba sp. nov are distinguished from their congeners by the retrolateral groove very slightly longer than half the cymbium length, by a leaf-like projection at the retrolateral base of the cymbium and by the vRTA slightly horse-shoe shaped in ventral view ( Fig. 53 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ). Females resemble those of U. barroana (Chamberlin) comb. nov., U. palenque sp. nov. and U. ope sp. nov. by the subrectangular median septum of the epigyne ( Figs 35 View FIGURES 33 – 36 , 47 View FIGURES 45 – 48 , 51 View FIGURES 49 – 52 , 55 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ) and by the very long and strongly convoluted Cp in the vulva ( Figs 36 View FIGURES 33 – 36 , 52 View FIGURES 49 – 52 , 48 View FIGURES 45 – 48 , 56 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ). They are distinguished from the latter species by the Lp long, covering most of the Cp, with a slightly elongate gp arising at the junction of both parts of the duct ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ).

Description. Male (UFAM, paratype): Prosoma brown, pale brown medially, with brown margins and brown fovea. Eye borders black. Chelicerae brown with faint darker brown longitudinal stripe. Legs and pedipalps yellowish brown ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 14 ). Sternum pale orange with brown margins. Labium and endites pale orange, distally yellow. Opisthosoma brown with dorsal pattern of densely arranged cream colored marks ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 14 ). Total length 3.5. Prosoma: 1.6 long, 1.4 wide. Opisthosoma: 1.8 long, 1.0 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.14, 0.12, 0.10, 0.10; interdistances: 0.08, 0.04, 0.12, 0.10, 0.10, 0.02. Legs: I: 6.3 (1.7, 0.7, 1.9, 1.5, 0.5); II: 6.4 (1.9, 0.7, 1.8, 1.5, 0.5); III: 5.2 (1.6, 0.6, 1.2, 1.4, 0.4); IV: 6.8 (1.8, 0.6, 1.6, 2.0, 0.8). Spination: femur I p1-1-0 r1-1-0; tibiae I–II v 6 pairs. Palp: tibia with one prolateral spine; dRTA conical, three times longer than vRTA; VTA small, slightly retrolateral; cymbium more than two times tibia length with retrolateral grove, flanked by strong setae; tegulum/subtegulum notch at 3 o’clock; tegulum flanked prolaterally by hyaline lamina, protruding slightly at the base of embolus and more developed at the base of conductor; embolus long and slender, arising at 5 o’clock ( Figs 53–54 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ).

Female (IBSP 137207, paratype): Prosoma pale brown with brown eye area, brown margins and brown Ushaped pattern extending from cephalic region to posterior margin of prosoma. Chelicerae brown with pair of dark brown longitudinal stripes. Legs and pedipalps pale brown, legs with brown bands ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 14 ). Sternum pale orange with brown margins. Labium and endites pale orange, distally yellow. Opisthosoma cream colored with brown scattered marks ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 14 ). Total length 5.3. Prosoma: 1.9 long, 1.6 wide. Opisthosoma: 3.2 long, 1.7 wide. Eyes: diameters: 0.14, 0.12, 0.10, 0.12; interdistances: 0.10, 0.02, 0.12, 0.08, 0.08, 0.06. Legs: I: 6.2 (1.6, 0.7, 1.9, 1.5, 0.5); II: 6.4 (1.8, 0.7, 1.9, 1.5, 0.5); III: 5.3 (1.5, 0.6, 1.2, 1.5, 0.5); IV: 6.2 (1.6, 0.6, 1.5, 1.9, 0.6). Spination: femur I: p1-1-0; r1-1-0; tibiae I–II: 8 pairs; tibia III: p0, r0. Epigyne: epigynal field two times wider than long; lateral lobes with small, posterior triangular projections, not reaching in height the posterior margin of the median septum; median septum almost two times longer than wide, posteriorly convex ( Fig. 55 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ). Vulva: Cp long and strongly convoluted; fertilization ducts short, thick and pointing away from each other ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 53 – 56 ).

Variation. Males (n = 8): total length 3.8–6.0; prosoma length 1.9–2.5; femur I length 1.9–2.7. Females (n = 10): total length 4.6–7.1; prosoma length 2.1–2.8; femur I length 2.0–2.8.
