Taxonomy. Original description: Clupeonella grimmi Kessler, 1877: 187 , pl. 6 (fig. 24) [Middle Caspian Sea, 560- 1750 feet (80-250 Russian fathoms); lectotype: ZIN 10934 View Materials (31.5 mm). Lectotype selected by Svetovidov, 1952: 20] .
