Description. Male. Integument dark brown except mouthparts reddish-brown, anteclypeus, labrum, basal 3/4 of antennomeres III–VI and basal third of antennomeres VI–X dark reddish-brown.

Head. Frons minutely, abundantly punctate with a few coarser punctures interspersed; with yellowish-white pubescence obscuring integument, more yellowish-brown laterally, interspersed with short, sparse, erect yellow setae; with long, erect brown setae close to eyes. Vertex, mostly antennal tubercles and area behind eyes with fulvous pubescence obscuring integument. Genae very finely, transversely sulcate toward ventral side, minutely, densely punctate toward dorsal side; with fringe of fulvous pubescence close to eye, sparsely pubescent on remaining surface (slightly more abundant on transverse band near apex). Coronal suture distinct from area between antennal tubercles to prothoracic margin, slightly distinct on frons. Submentum slightly depressed, minutely, densely punctate; with short, subdecumbent yellow setae not obscuring integument. Postclypeus with fulvous, sparse pubescence on wide central area, glabrous laterally; with long, erect, sparse dark brown setae on wide central area. Labrum with fulvous pubescence not obscuring integument, interspersed with long, erect, dark brown setae; apex with fringe of golden setae. Distance between upper eye lobes 0.25 times length of scape; distance between lower eye lobes in frontal view 0.65 times length of scape. Antennae 2.45 times elytral length, reaching elytral apex at distal third of antennomere VI; scape, pedicel and antennomeres III–XI with long, erect, sparse pale yellow setae on inner side of ventral side (gradually shorter, sparser toward XI); scape with yellowishwhite pubescence obscuring integument (more fulvous on base of dorsal side); lighter area of antennomeres with yellowish-white pubescence obscuring integument, and darker area with brown pubescence not obscuring integument; antennal formula (ratio) based on length of antennomere III: scape = 0.60; pedicel = 0.20; IV = 0.83; V = 0.67; VI = 0.63; VII = 0.58; VIII = 0.54; IX = 0.54; X = 0.54; XI = 0.51.

Thorax. Lateral tubercles with blunt apex. Pronotum with three large tubercles: two subcircular, more elevated, rounded at apex, placed on each side near midlength; one elongate, slightly elevated, placed centrally on basal half. Pronotal surface coarsely, moderately sparsely punctate except on smooth tubercles; with yellowishbrown on central tubercle, behind and between subcircular tubercles and close to anterior margin, with pale yellow pubescence on remaining surface, except areas of brown pubescence laterally behind lateral tubercles; pubescence obscuring most of integument. Sides of prothorax with yellowish-white pubescence obscuring integument. Prosternum with yellowish-white pubescence partially obscuring integument. Mesosternum with grayish-white pubescence (shorter than on prosternum), not obscuring integument. Mesepisternum, mesepimeron, metepisternum and sides of metasternum with yellowish-brown pubescence partially obscuring integument; wide central area of metasternum with grayish-white pubescence partially obscuring integument except on glabrous narrow central sulcus. Scutellum with yellowish-brown pubescence, gradually lighter toward glabrous central area. Elytra. Humeri laterally projected; apex obliquely truncate, with rounded angles; elytral surface coarsely, abundantly punctate on basal third, gradually sparser toward apex; with two carina-shaped tubercles on basal quarter (outermost more elevated, placed at about center, innermost placed near suture) ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 15 – 23. 15 – 18 ) and another smaller, placed close to lateral curvature; basal quarter with yellowish-brown pubescence on area of tubercles, dark brown pubescence on sides of scutellum, and yellowish-white pubescence interspersed with yellowish-brown areas on remaining surface; with narrow, dark brown, pubescent oblique band below tubercles; with wide, dark brown, pubescent oblique band on midlength, centrally projected toward base of tubercles; lateral area between white band and tubercles with yellowish-brown pubescence; area along suture, between white band and apex, and distal area with white pubescence (less denser than on oblique band on midlength); lateral area after white band with longitudinal bands of yellowish-brown and white pubescence (forming a Y). Legs. Pro- and mesofemora dorsally with yellowish-brown pubescence partially obscuring integument, gradually yellowish-white toward sides, distinctly shorter, sparser ventrally; metafemora with yellowish-brown pubescence gradually white toward ventral side. Tibiae with yellowish-brown pubescence on basal 2/3, partially circled on center by area distinctly exposing integument (more distinct on mesofemora); with dark brown pubescence on distal third except ventral side mostly yellowish-white pubescent. Nearly basal half of tarsomeres yellowish-brown pubescent and remaining surface with brown pubescence not obscuring integument.

Abdomen. Ventrites with grayish-white pubescence partially obscuring integument; with long, erect, sparse golden setae, slightly more abundant laterally on ventrites I–IV, distinctly more abundant on ventrite V; surface of ventrite V flat.

Female. Differs from male primarily by the shorter antennae (2.0 times elytral length, reaching elytral apex at distal third of antennomere VII), and by the surface of abdominal ventrite V more convex, with narrow longitudinal sulcus on center of basal third.

Variation of paratype females. Pubescence on frons pale yellow on wide longitudinal central band, distinctly yellowish-brown laterally; area behind eyes with pubescence gradually yellowish-white toward ventral side; genae with long, erect, sparse yellow setae; elytral pubescence regularly darker.

Dimensions in mm (holotype male/ paratype males/ paratype females). Total length, 9.45/10.00–13.00/ 9.60–13.50; prothorax: length, 1.65/1.80–2.00/1.60–2.00; anterior width, 2.55/3.50–4.00/2.50–3.80; posterior width, 2.25/2.50–4.50/2.10–3.30; widest width (between apex of tubercles), 3.00/4.20–6.20/3.10–4.50; humeral width, 4.10/4.20–6.20/4.20–6.00; elytral length, 6.75/7.20–10.00/7.40–10.28.

Etymology. Named to honor and recognize Robin Clarke for his many taxonomic contributions to our knowledge of New World Cerambycidae .

Remarks. Oreodera clarkei sp. nov. is similar to O. basipenicillata Tippmann, 1960 , but differs as follows: band with dark brown pubescence on basal quarter of the elytra oblique and placed more distant from base, and not reaching humerus; elytra without dark spots on distal half and with distinct, nearly central, oblique white band; basal area of elytra without yellow or greenish-yellow pubescent spots. In O. basipenicillata , with dark brown pubescent band on basal quarter of elytra more irregular, almost straight and reaching humerus, elytra with dark spots on distal half, without oblique white band and elytra with yellow, or greenish-yellow, pubescent spots between base and dark band.
