Record as epibiont on cnidarians: The species was originally described on Abietinaria abietina (Linnaeus, 1758) (= Diphasia abietina ) from Norway coast ( Kahl 1935). It was also registered at Gonothyraea loveni (named as Laomedea loveni ), Campanulina lacerata (Johnston, 1847) and Dynamena pumila (Linnaeus, 1758) from Kiel Bay, the North Sea ( Precht 1935).

Record on other hosts/subtrata: It was reported on crustaceans e.g., Carcinus maenas (Linnaeus, 1758) ; Crangon crangon (Linnaeus, 1758) ; Gammarus locusta (Linnaeus, 1758) ; Jaera albifrons Leach, 1814 (= Jaera marina ); Palaemon adspersus Rathke, 1836 (= Leander adspersus ) from Norway and Germany ( Precht 1935; Morado & Small 1995; Mayén-Estrada & Utz 2018). The species was also found at artificial substrates (glass slides) that were immersed in water at a depth of ca. 1 m for 10 days in abalone-farming pond on the coast of Qingdao, China ( Ji et al. 2006). It was listed among ciliates of the Baltic Sea ( Mironova et al. 2009).
