Corethrya sertulariae Wright, 1859

Record as epibiont on cnidarians: The species was described by Wright (1859) as epibiont on hydroid Dynamena pumila (Linnaeus, 1758) (named as Sertularia pumila ) collected at low-water mark near Granton (a district in the north of Edinburgh, Scotland). Collin (1912) also reported this species as epibiont from Roscoff ( France) on D. pumila . Dons (1943) found C. sertulariae (as Ophryodendron sertulariae ) on D. pumila from Tromsø ( Norway).

Record as epibiont on other hosts: Jankowski (2007) has mentioned that C. sertulariae is a common fouling on hydroids, stones, and mollusc shells in Murmansk (the Barents Sea).

Remarks: Wright (1861) mistakenly synonymized the species Corethrya sertulariae (found on hydroid D. pumila ) with Ophryodendron abietinum .
