Synallaxis humilis Cabanis

Synallaxis humilis Cabanis, 1873c: 319 .

Now: Asthenes humilis humilis (Cabanis, 1873) View in CoL . See Cory & Hellmayr (1925: 140).

Type series: Cabanis (1873c: 319) based this species on an unspecified number of specimens deposited in the ZMB, which included at least a male and a female. Entries in the Accession Catalogue of the ZMB indicate that he had at least two relevant specimens at his disposal, which are thus syntypes of the species. In addition, the Berlepsch Collection (now in the SMF) contains a specimen of this species, received by Berlepsch from Taczanowski, via Cabanis, in June 1873, according to the label associated with the specimen (SysTax 2009). The latter specimen also qualifies as a syntype of S. humilis Cabanis.

Syntype: ZMB 21205 (B-9998), 3, collected by Jelski in "1873" (younger ZMB label) [= May to September 1871] at "Maraynioc" [= Maraynioc, Peru]. The date given on the ZMB label refers to the year when the ZMB received and catalogued the specimen, not to a collection date.

Syntype: ZMB 21206 (B-9998), Ƥ, collected by Jelski on "1871 30 [rest unreadable]" (field-label) [= 30 ..... 1871; month unreadable, i.e. May to August, considering that Jelski stopped collecting at the locality in mid September] at "Maraynioc" [= Maraynioc, Peru].

Syntype: SMF-63793 (Berlepsch 817, Jelski 146), unsexed, collected by Jelski on 27 June 1872 at “Junin” [= Junín, Peru].

Type locality: “Junin u. Maraynioc” ( Cabanis 1873c: 319), i.e. Junín, Peru [11.16°S, 76.00°W] and Maraynioc, Peru [11.37°S, 75.40°W].

Remarks: Taczanowski (1889: 22) listed three specimens in the MIZ (all collected by Jelski at Maraynioc) as types of this species. The latter specimens, which did not survive until today, had no type status (see Mlíkovský 2009b for details).
