Distribution. Europe (excluding south and east) ( Alonso-Zarazaga 2013).
Material examined. Kharkiv Prov.: 1 spec. ( KUMN) Zmiiv Distr., 7 km S Zmiiv, Gaidary env., 49°36'52" N 36°19'12" E, 150m, deciduous forest, on Tilia sp., V. V. Terekhova leg., 28.vii.2008 GoogleMaps ; Kyiv Prov.: 1 spec. ( SIZK), env . Kyiv; 3 spec. ( SIZK) Kyiv, Lysa Hora , near swamp, pitfall traps, V. Yu. Nazarenko leg., 14–21.iv.2000 and 2– 11.vi.2000 .
Biology. Deciduous forests. Adults occur in IV–VI. Larvae are stem miners in dead wood.
Note. Apperantly, Arnoldi and co-authors (1965) have confused Crimean specimens of T. hystrix with T. hispidus .
