Description of Algimonas porphyrae HMG 3263

Cells are Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, and rod shaped. Colonies are circular, convex, smooth, and orange red after incubation for 5 days on MA at 25°C. In the API 20NE system, positive for cytochrome oxidase, gelatin hydrolysis, esculin hydrolysis, and β -galactosidase; but negative for nitrate reduction, glucose fermentation, indole production, urease, and arginine dihydrolase. Glucose, arabinose, mannose, mannitol, D-maltose, potassium gluconate, N -acetyl-glucosamine, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate, and phenylacetic acid are not utilized as sole carbon sources. Strain HMG3263 (= NIBRBAC000509550) was isolat- ed from a seawater sample at Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea.
