Stenosmylina Jepson et al., 2009 View in CoL
Type species. Stenosmylina medialis Jepson et al., 2009: 1327 (by original designation).
Diagnosis. Forewing narrowly ovoid; costal area relatively narrow, basal subcostal veinlets simple, relatively widely spaced; RP1 originating far from fork of RA-RP; M forked in distal part of wing; CuA pectinate; CuP strongly elongate and pectinately branched (14 branches); A1 pectinately branched; A2 with one short branch; preserved crossveins rather widely spaced and not forming gradate series; HW unknown.
Comments. This genus is known only from a single forewing fragment. Jepson et al. (2009) suggested that the genus most resembled members of Mesosmylina (Mesosmylininae) . The fork of the forewing medial vein in the distal half of the wing, near the wing margin is a distinctive feature of members of Porisminae and Eidoporisminae, as noted by Jepson et al. (2009) as also occurring in Stenosmylina . This condition is also present in genera of Stenosmylinae . Another feature of the forewing of that Stenosmylina shares with Porisminae, Eidoporisminae and some genera of Stenosmylinae (e.g., Stenosmylus ) is the origin of the first branch of RP near the middle part of the wing, distant from the origin of RP on RA. These aforementioned characters, as well as the overall venation shared by Eidoporismus and Stenosmylina support provisional placement of the latter in Eidoporisminae.
