Type locality. Guiana Basin (8°4.2’N, 54°21.3’W), 1000 m.

Type material. Holotype USNM 1112621 View Materials (1 spm); paratypes USNM 1138691 View Materials (1 slide with sclerites), USNM 1138692 View Materials (6 spms + 1 slide with sclerites + 1 slide with radula and jaws), USNM 1138693 View Materials (15 spms).

Remarks. USNM 1138693, designated as paratypes of C. crassum , includes 5 specimens that do not belong to this species. These specimens have been separated by the first author, and one specimen dissolved for sclerite and jaw preparations on seven slides.
