Type locality: Sierra Leone.
Imago (Fig. 61): Wingspan 12–14mm. Head white; labial palpus long and slender, upcurved, segment 3 as long as 1 & 2; proboscis well developed; maxillary palpus short, pointed; antenna 2/3 length of forewing. Tegulae prominent, pale buff; thorax whitish. Forewing whitish to pale ochreous; an obscure oblique fuscous median fascia followed by a more or less parallel thinner line; two white wedge-shaped costal strigulae towards apex, separated by orange-brown; pale grey tornal spot; a thin dark fuscous subterminal line; termen yellow. Hindwing base white; a yellow streak to tornus and a pair of ill-defined wavy median fascia lines; two parallel subterminal lines, the inner one almost complete, the outer narrow in middle, but broad on either side; five terminal eye spots, black on termen inwardly dark brown, 1–2 and 4–5 almost coalesced, each bearing a silver metallic dot, variously placed; yellow beyond spots and in between on termen.
Male genitalia: Unknown.
Female genitalia (Fig. 174): Ostium wide, antrum at first wide then constricted and reduced by wrinkly sclerotisation; ductus bursae gradually widening into corpus bursae without perceptible junction. Corpus bursae long and membranous with a pair of sclerotised ridges, narrow posteriorly but broadening towards anterior end.
Tympanal organs: venulae wide and strong curving around tympanal organs; tympani not greatly produced.
Diagnosis: Differs from other species in the genus in the double subterminal line of the hindwing, stronger nearer the base.
Biology: Unknown.
Material examined: Lectotype ♀ hereby designated: SIERRA LEONE, W.G. Clements 99–116, 22.iv.1895 with blue lectotype label; paralectotype ♀, same data except 24.iii.1895. BMNH Pyralidae slide No. 21359.
