Opilioacarus segmentatus With, 1902 View in CoL

Material examined: Syntype ♂ ( ZMUC), ZMUC00046884 View Materials , Algeria meridional, coll. Simon, M. E., in alcohol; syntype ♀ ( ZMUC), ZMUC00046885 View Materials , same data ; syntype ♂ ( MHNH), same data , 1I11, on slide.

Diagnosis: 5 foliate d1 setae, 17+ ch; anal valve with 9–10 setae; pregenital capsule with 3 setae.

Remarks: Due to the condition of the O. italicus type (see Discussion) the only possible comparison of the new species presented below is to the species O. segmentatus . The O. segmentatus syntype material deposited at ZMUC was not allowed to be mounted or remounted, and the syntypes in MNHN, used by Grandjean (1936), were in bad condition and also not allowed to be remounted. A proper re-description is still necessary for a better comparison with other species. However, it was possible to check both d type setae (d1 and d2), while the others were extremely difficult and therefore could not be identified or counted with any confidence.
