Eriophyidae , Phyllocoptinae , Anthocoptini

227 * Tegoprionus alobus Duarte, Chetverikov & Navia, 2016 in Duarte et al. (2016: 1237).

Type host. Lippia alba (Mill.) N. E. Brown (Verbenaceae) .

Type locality. Brasília (15°41’18’’S, 47°49’39’’W), Distrito Federal , Brazil GoogleMaps .

Additional localities in Brazil. Maceió (09°32’42’’S, 35°43’31’’W), Alagoas ( Duarte et al. 2016) GoogleMaps .

Relationship to host plant. Vagrants on the lower leaf surface. Presumably associated with chlorotic spots ( Duarte et al. 2016).

Remark. This Anthocoptini was tentatively placed in Tegoprionus Keifer, 1961 , however it is close to Heterotergum Keifer, 1955 . Further faunistic and molecular phylogenetic studies could uncover diversity of similar Tegoprionus -like species and clarify its taxonomic placement.

Type host plant status. Native herb, shrub or subshrub, not endemic, widely distributed in all biomes and regions ( Flora do Brasil 2020). One of the plants referred to as “erva cidreira” in folk medicine and has high pharmacological importance ( Aguiar 2008).
