Synonymy.
Taspinus mangiferae Chandrapatya, 1991
Type host. Mangifera indica L. ( Anacardiaceae ).
Type locality. Pago Pago , Tuituila, Samoa .
Relationship to host plant. Vagrants on both surfaces of leaves and found also in buds ( Keifer 1979; Chandrapatya et al. 2000); no noticeable symptom was observed ( Chandrapatya et al. 2000).
Remark. Type species in the genus Spinacus , only known from the type host.
Reports in Brazil. Brasília ( Chandrapatya et al. 2000) , Distrito Federal; Janaúba ( Damasceno 2008), Minas Gerais; Mossoró ( Chandrapatya et al. 2000), Rio Grande do Norte.
Type host plant status in Brazil. Exotic fruit tree, widely cultivated especially in tropical areas of the country ( Lorenzi et al. 2006). Mango is of great economic importance for Brazil, due to high domestic consumption, as well as the high export rate. This fruit is still the most exported fruit by Brazil, and is consumed both fresh and processed in the form of pulps and juices. Though being produced in the entire national territory, mango plantations are mostly concentrated in the Northeast ( Kist et al. 2018).

Remarks. Genus only known from Brazil, up to date monospecific.

Type locality. Piracicaba , São Paulo, Brazil .
Additional localities in Brazil. São Gabriel de Goiás, Goiás; Parque Nacional do Itatiaia , Itatiaia, Rio de Janeiro; Serra Negra, São Paulo ( Flechtmann 2000a) .
Relationship to host plant. Vagrants ( Flechtmann 2000a).
Remark. Type species in the genus Tecarus , only known from the type host.
Type host plant status. Native tree, not endemic, occurring in Mata Atlântica and Pampa biomes in South and Southeast Regions ( Iganci & Dorneles 2020).
