Relationship to host plant. Vagrants, inhabiting buds, shoots and leaves. Infestations can cause deformation of young leaves; bronzing, necrosis and/or premature dropping of leaves can occur. Plant development can be impaired. Developed leaves turn from green to reddish-brown or yellow, depending on the grapevine varieties ( Duso & de Lillo 1996). In Brazil symptoms have been more severe as a consequence of prolonged dry summers ( Siqueira et al. 2010).

Type host plant status. Exotic, liana/vine of economic and social importance widely cultivated in domestic and commercial orchards, mainly for wine production or fresh fruit market ( Lorenzi et al. 2006).
