Diagnosis. Mandibles dark brown with apex yellowish-brown, with a row of small teeth at apex (as in Fig. 112 View FIGURES 103–112 ); flagellum dark brown, 0.7× as long as width of mesoscutum, F4 0.6× as long as wide, apex of clava pointed ( Figs 7 View FIGURES 7–12 , 56 View FIGURES 51–57 ); frons between scrobes and eyes and vertex with strong reticulation ( Figs 82 View FIGURES 76–83 , 99 View FIGURES 92–102 ); occipital margin with an edge behind ocellar triangle ( Fig. 82 View FIGURES 76–83 ); mesoscutum and mesoscutellum with same colour and reticulation ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 25–30 ); mesoscutellum convex; dorsellum ±flat, smooth and shiny, posterior margin ±evenly rounded; fore wing with 4–5 setae in apico-dorsal part of costal cell, completely hyaline ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–12 ); coxae black with metallic tinges ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7–12 ); gaster ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 25–30 ) 1.8× as long as wide; Gt 1 0.3× as long as length of gaster, dorsal surface smooth, posterior margin sinuate; Gt 6 0.1× as long as length of gaster with anterior part 1.7× as wide as width of posterior part, posterior margin straight with sharp edge.

Description (female holotype). Length 2.1 mm. Frons between scrobes and eyes and vertex with strong reticulation, scrobes smooth. Mandibles with a row of small teeth at apex. Occipital margin with an edge behind ocellar triangle. Dorsellum ±flat, smooth and shiny, posterior margin ±evenly rounded. Propodeal callus with 18 setae. Fore wing with seven setae on dorsal surface of submarginal vein; with 16 admarginal setae; costal cell with 18 setae on ventral surface in a single row, apico-dorsal margin with five setae; speculum distinct and closed below. Gaster long ovate; Gt 1 smooth and shiny without sculpture, remaining tergites with weak reticulation; Gt 1 with posterior margin sinuate, Gt 6 with posterior margin straight.

Colour. Head black with metallic tinges. Mandibles dark brown with apex yellowish-brown. Antennae with scape yellowish-brown, pedicel and flagellum dark brown. Mesosoma black with metallic tinges. Legs with coxae black with metallic tinges, trochanters and femora dark brown, tibiae and tarsi yellowish-brown. Gaster black with metallic tinges.

Male. Unknown.

Distribution. Costa Rica.

Etymology. Named for type area, the province Guanacaste.

Material. Holotype female: COSTA RICA, Guanacaste, Parque Nacional Santa Rosa , 300m, SE-6-C, 7- 28.xii.1985, D.H. Janzen & I.D. Gauld ( NHMUK) . Paratypes (3♀, MZLU; NHMUK): 1♀ from same locality as holotype but collected 8.ii-2.iii.1986; barcoded specimens : 1♀ COSTA RICA, Guanacaste, Area de Conservacion Guanacaste , Sector Pailas , Pailas Dos PL12-5, 10.7632°N 85.3338°W, 831m 16-23.iii.2017, D. Janzen, W. Hallwachs ( BIOUG57030 View Materials -G11) GoogleMaps ; 1♀ from same locality as previous but collected 23.ii-2.ii.2017 ( BIOUG60816 View Materials -C11) .
