Type locality: “ Npenda village , NE of Lake Tumba (00.7465°S, 18.2243°E, 311 m), Equateur Province, DRC ” .

Distribution. It extends from the East of the Niger Delta to Kenya, southward to northern Angola ( Greenbaum et al. 2021). In Equatorial Guinea it has been recorded both from Bioko ( Boulenger 1896; Bocage 1903) and Río Muni, at Cabo San Juan ( Boulenger 1905) and Monte Alén National Park ( Lasso et al. 2002) ( Map 24A ).

Comments. A recently described species splitted from T. pulverulenta (Fisher, 1856) where it was formerly included ( Greenbaum et al. 2021). There are no precise records of this species for Bioko ( Mertens 1964a).

Specimens examined. Fifteen specimens. Equatorial Guinea, without specific locality, but likely part of the material examined by Boulenger (1905) from Cabo San Juan ( MNCN 23813 ) .
