(2011); Rajasthan – Venkataraman (1990b); Tamil Nadu — Raghunathan & Revathi (1999a), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2002, 2009), Annalakashmi & Amsath (2011); Uttarakhand — Brehm (1950) Sharma P.C. & Pant (1987); General record— Fernando & Kanduru (1984), Sharma B.K. & Michael (1987), Raghunathan & Suresh Kumar (2003).

Remarks. Valid species described from Denmark (O.F. Müller 1776). Non-Palaearctic records need to be checked. Brehm & Woltereck (1939) represented pictures of a really longispina -like form.

Distribution. “Europe, Asia and Africa” according to Benzie (2005), but this seems to be a too optimistic opinion, i.e. presence of this species in the eastern Palaearctic is not confirmed ( Ishida et al. 2006).
