Indian records. Kerala coast— Robin et al. (2009); Tamil Nadu — Manikannan et al. (2011) (as Podon lecarti ).

Remarks. Valid species described from coastal waters of Norway, Europe ( Sars 1862b) as Pleopis . Records from the Indian Ocean need to be revised.

Distribution. Predominantly in Northern part of the Atlantic and Pacific oceans ( Rivier 1998).
