The species is known from Europe, North Africa ( Gupta 1982: 9), Caucasus ( Aliyev & Kasparyan 1981: 65), Kazakhstan ( Kasparyan & Khalaim 2007: 322), northeastern China ( Uchida 1942: 118) and India ( Gupta 1982: 9); it was introduced into northeastern USA prior to 1931 ( Townes & Townes 1960: 215; Carlson 1979: 348). In the Nearctic region, P. divinator was recorded from northeastern USA and Québec, Canada ( Townes & Townes 1960: 215; Dolphin et al. 1972: 1605; Carlson 1979: 348).
Samples of P. divinator from Europe (Belgorod Prov., Russia) have been examined. Females have tergites 2 and 3 short (second tergite 0.9 times as long as broad), second tergite without a median keel, hind leg predominantly red and propodeum rather short in lateral view.
Distribution. Palaearctic and Oriental species; introduced to North America ; unknown from Mexico.
