Manciola guaporicola ( Dunn, 1935)
Type-locality. Headwaters of Guaporé River in western Mato Grosso, more specifically near Bastos Farm on Rio Alegre , which is above and not far from Villa Bella de Mato Grosso .
Pertinent taxonomic references. Dunn (1935), Nascimento et al. (1988), Ávila-Pires (1995), Miralles et al. (2005a, 2006, 2009a, 2009b), Whiting et al. (2006), Harvey et al. (2008), Miralles & Carranza (2010), Hedges & Conn (2012).
Distribution and habitat. Manciola guaporicola is widespread in Brazilian Cerrado and Pantanal, and in Bolivian Chaco ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). In Brazil it is known from the states of Pará, Tocantins, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Minas Gerais, and in the Distrito Federal. In Amazonia it occurs in northern Bolivia and in open vegetation enclaves in southwestern Pará and southern Rondônia, in Brazil ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Manciola guaporicola is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits grasslands and grassy scrubland, both in dry and wet soil, where it is found amid grasses ( Ávila-Pires 1995; Mesquita et al. 2000; Uetabanaro et al. 2007; Valdujo et al. 2009). Mesquita et al. (2000) observed that the species seems to prefer more open physiognomies of Cerrado, but Colli et al. (2002) reported the species also in gallery forest.
