Range: — Bolivia (SC); southeastern Brazil, adjacent Argentina and Paraguay.
Ecology: —Uncommon in gallery forests, also lower montane forest elsewhere; 730–950 m.
Notes: —This species reaches its western limit in Bolivia, occurring here in the isolated sandstone range of the Serranía de Chiquitos. Cyathea phalerata is a common understory tree fern in warm humid forests in southeastern Brazil ( Weigand & Lehnert 2016).
