Material examined. Lectotype (designated herein): female labelled as “ Cherra Punji female (Austen)/ Moore Coll. 94-106/ Syntype / BMNH (E) #982822 /. Other material examined: 1 male, China [Guangdong], Linping , 29.iv.1924 (H. Höne) genit. prep. 1840VK ( ZFMK) ; 1 male, Vietnam Moo Ba, 50 km E Thai Nguyen, Prov. Thai Nguyen, 200 m, ix.2008 (leg. Lao Cai, 1920 m, Fan-si-pan Mts, Sa Pa , 4 km W Cat, i – iii.1998 genitalia examined by brushing (leg. Frontier Organization)/ Donda striatovirens (HNHM) .

Diagnosis. Adult ( Figs. 14, 15, 21). Wingspan male 48–51 mm. This and next species are very similar externally but differ from the viridipicta species-group by larger size, more uniform, darker green colour of the head, thorax and forewing and more smooth wing pattern, without brown subapical spot and dark-brown filing of subterminal and terminal fields. Male genitalia strongly different from viridipicta species-group, female genitalia differ by large, sclerotised split antevaginal plate and shape of cervix bursae. Head and thorax green, abdomen with crest; ground colour of forewing green, but without emerald tint as in V. viridipicta ; wing pattern formed by brown diffused lines and fasciae, lines marked in costal area by small brown spots, fields marked on costal margin by yellow; basal field separated in costal area by yellow line bordered with brown; subbasal line in costal area reduced to brown diffused patch; antemedial line thin, diffused, waved; medial shadow brown, diffused, orbicular and reniform marked by brown bordering lines, reniform with two blackish nuclei; thin dentate line lies between medial shadow and postmedial line; postmedial line prominent, brown, twin, its outer line diffused, on vein Cu2 with twin black spot; terminal field separated from subterminal area by diffused pale subterminal line; terminal field with brown suffusion; terminal line as row of triangular blackish streaks, bordered with pale green; cilia brownishgreen, brownish-yellow opposite veins. Hindwing greyish-brown, pale in inner part, darker to wing margin, with traceable discal spot and medial fascia; anal angle with whitish tornal mark and suffusion of green scales. Male genitalia. ( Fig. 26). Tegumen and vinculum almost equal, tegumen rather broad, with penicular lobes; uncus relatively short, slightly curved; juxta large, vertical, split in apical part in two lobes, extended basally, vinculum with massive saccus; valva long, with parallel margins gradually tapering in apical fourth, with setose apex; sacculus relatively small, lobe of sacculus with rectangular extension; clasper extremely long, plate-like, ending in a thin, long, stick-like harpe. Aedeagus rather long, slightly curved apically, carina sclerotised, band-like, tubular vesica, projecting ventrally, bearing a row of plate-like spiniform cornuti. Female genitalia. The authors had not possibility to examine of the female genitalia structure.

Distribution (Map 34:4). North East India (Meghalaya), North Thailand, North Vietnam, South China.

Notes. The species was not included in Hampson’s catalogue (1903–1913), nor illustrated in Seitz (1912 –1938). We examined the photograph of the female indicated as the syntype of Donda striatovirens (NHM, London) described from Cherra Punji , North India ( Fig. 14). Unfortunately we were unable to examine the female genitalia. The genitalia of one male specimen from Thailand and two male specimens from North Vietnam examined by brushing are identical with those of males from South China (prep. 1840 VK) and Vietnam (7386GB) .
