Type : CHINA. Taiwan: Randaisan, 10 August 1908, T. Kawakami & U. Mori 7134 (lectotype TAIF-1005!, isolectotypes TAIF-1004!, TI-0112!, 0114!; designated by Chiou et al. 2000) .

Homotypic synonyms:— Ctenitis kawakamii (Hayata) Ching (1938: 286) , Dryopsis kawakamii (Hayata) Holttum & Edwards (1986: 186) .

Note: — There were five original elements of Dryopteris kawakamii available for lectotypification: TAIF- 1004, TAIF-1005, TI-0112, TI-0114 and the photo of TI-0112 published in Ic. Fl. Formosa 4: 155. f. 96. 1911. The citation of TAIF-1005 by Chiou et al. (2000: fig. 46) is accepted here as lectotypification although their citation is not indicated by the term “ lectotypus ”, or its abbreviation, or its equivalent in a modern language. Article 9.21 ( McNeill et al. 2006) is not applicable because Chiou et al. ’s citation is before 2001.

Heterotypic synonyms: — Dryopteris sacholepis Hayata (1915: 285) . Ctenitis sacholepis (Hayata) H.Itô in Nakai & Honda (1939: 80).Type: CHINA. Taiwan: Mt. Arisan, 31 December 1914, T. Soma s.n. (holotype TI-0149!).

This species is endemic to Taiwan.
