Description. Small, depressed lentiform shell with almost flat spire. Protoconch hardly emerging, very small of <1 visible whorl (diameter 0.6 mm). Teleoconch of ~3.5 whorls. First teleoconch whorl flat with slightly raised, weakly beaded SSC and UPC with two delicate, beaded MCs. Later whorls with very prominent SSC of tubercular beads, three weaker MCs and prominent UPC. Beaded LPC appearing during second teleoconch whorl. Subsequent whorl attached below LPC. Beads rounded, subquadratic. LPC forming blunt keel; below steeply inclined, faintly concave passing via weak angulation into weakly convex base. Periphery coarsely beaded in basal view. IPC indistinct followed by three weaker, beaded spiral cords, three broader, beaded spiral cords and only slightly stronger PUC. UC prominent, delimited by narrow groove, overhanging umbilicus. Umbilicus moderately wide (~20–26 of MD). Umbilical wall bearing fine axial growth lines. Aperture small, circular with weak CG.

Discussion. The lectotype is a small subadult specimen that, at its early growth stage, has a rather narrow umbilicus, which becomes only slightly wider during ontogeny. The narrow umbilicus separated Pseudotorinia marthae form the otherwise similar species discussed above under Pseudotorinia grasemanni . Pseudotorinia subplicata sensu Landau et al. (2020b) , from the Tortonian of France, differs in its reticulate sculpture ( Landau et al. 2020b: pl. 1, figs 1–2). Pseudotorinia theresae (Semper, 1861) , from the Pliocene of the Mediterraean Sea, has a broader PUC and a prominent ISC ( Chirli 2013; pl. 6, figs 10–15). The Pliocene Mediterranean Pseudotorinia obtusa ( Bronn, 1831) has a higher spire, a much weaker subsutural spiral cord and a more uniform sculpture ( Ferrero Mortara et al. 1984 pl. 15, figs 4a–c). Some Miocene ‘varieties’ of P. obtusa , described by Sacco (1892), such as P. taurotransiens Sacco, 1892 , from the Langhian of Sciolze, might be close to or identical with P. marthae , but the poor illustrations in Sacco (1892: pl. 2, fig. 47) do not allow a clear identification.

Distribution. Known so far only from the middle Badenian (late Langhian) of the Central Paratethys Sea.

Central Paratethys Sea. Middle Miocene (Badenian): Korytnica Basin: Korytnica ( Poland) ( Bałuk 2006); Hrvaćani ( Bosnia and Herzegovina) ( Atanacković 1985); Făget Basin: Coşteiu de Sus ( Romania) ( Boettger 1902).
