Type: not designated.

Description:― Annuals. Stems 5–30 cm long, prostrate, striate, main branch longer than others. Ochrea 5–12 mm long, brown at the tube, prominently veined, later divided into linear strands. Nods slightly swollen. Petioles 1–8 mm, longer than ochrea at middle and included in ochrea at the upper side. Leaves 5–12 × 1–3 mm, elliptic to lanceolate, obtuse at apex, rarely acute; veins prominent and branched at the bottom. Inflorescences 1–3-flowered fascicles. Pedicel shorter than ochrea. Tepal 2.0– 3.5 mm, pink or whitish. Styles 3 with shorter stigma. Stamens 7–8. Achenes trigonous, 2.2–3.0 mm, roughly veined and tuberculate, dark brown; achenes somewhat large and long, pyriform in late season.

Vernacular name:― The authors propose “Delice madımak” as a vernacular name for P. buxiforme according to the guidelines of Menemen et al. (2016).

Note:― It is very similar to Polygonum neglectum but easily differentiated by shape and size of leaves; ochrea shape and size. P. rurivagum is often found in urban areas due to its higher adaptability ( Table 2 View TABLE 2 ).
