Hawai’i; southern California ( Bertelsen et al. 1981), and Isla Guadalupe (Personal communication: Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History Fish Collection, Los Angeles, California), central Baja California. Mesopelagic to bathypelagic; depth: taken in open nets fished above 700 m ( 2,297 ft) ( Bertelsen et al. 1981), and at maximum depths of 5,396 m ( 17,700 ft) (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California).
