Bandtail Frogfish. To 7.8 cm (3.1 in) SL (Theodore Pietsch). A record of 15 cm (5.9 in) SL ( Mejía-Ladino et al. 2007) is very likely an error. Lower Gulf of California and southern tip of Baja California (Schneider and Lavenberg in Fischer et al. 1995) to Ecuador ( Béarez 1996), including Islas Galápagos ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997), and other offshore islands ( Robertson and Allen 2002). Depth: intertidal to 50 m (164 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Mejía-Ladino et al. 2007).
