Black Prickleback. To 32.3 cm (12.7 in) TL ( Mecklenburg et al. 2002). Kodiak Island , Gulf of Alaska ( Mecklenburg et al. 2002) to near Isla San Martín (30°26’N, 116°07’W), northern Baja California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection , La Jolla, California). Benthic; depth: intertidal to 27 m (90 ft) (min.: Miller and Lea 1972; max.: Personal communication: University of Washington, Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture Fish Collection, Seattle, Washington).
