El Segundo, southern California ( Moore 1991) to northern Peru ( Chirichigno and Vélez 1998), including Gulf of California (Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California), and such offshore islands as Islas Galápagos ( Grove and Lavenberg 1997).
