X. pectinatus View in CoL group
Black spinules at ventral base of fore basitarsus present. Legs usually poorly bristled. Eyes separated on face, except in costalis subgroup. Third antennal segment short, usually as long as deep or deeper than long, seldom longer than deep (p.e. in acinaces and litoralis ). Surstyli separated, but sometimes closely connected, usually long (short in subgroup D), mostly of about equal length and usually more or less similarly shaped, often finger-shaped. Cerci often sickle-shaped. Hypandrium as a rule not surpassing tips of surstyli.
This is a very large group, apparently characteristic for the Oriental and Australian Regions.
