• Small to large-sized insectivorous bats with soft fine pelage; small eyes; and distinctive, large, but simple noseleaves on top of muzzles.

• 7-16 cm.

• Palearctic, Afrotropical, Indo-Malayan, and Australasian Regions.

• Deserts, arid grasslands, savannas, tropical forests, from sea level to mid-elevations on mountains.

• 7 genera, 88 species, 129 taxa.

• 2 species Critically Endangered, 1 Endangered, 13 Vulnerable; none Extinct since 1600.
