Distribution. Atlantic, Pacific and southern Ocean.

Depth range. 1000–3040 m.

Habitat. Bathypelagic.

Iberian Seas published records. Canary Islands ( Haroun & Garrido 2003, Wittmann & Riera 2012).

Remarks. Zimmer (1914) recorded a specimen of the genus from the deep water of the Atlantic near the Azores (Ponta Delgada), but the material was not apparently in a sufficiently good state of preservation to describe ( Tattersall,1951, Richter 2003).
