Current status: Philopterus confusio Ansari, 1955f .
Type host: Turdus fulviventris Sclater.
Type locality: Tabay [as Tabayi], Venezuela.
Type material: Holotype male [slide 56733] and two paratypes, one male and one female on two slides with the same number [slides 28665] deposited in the USNM from the Carriker collection. One paratype female deposited in the NHML [slide NHML010645971 View Materials ] from the Carriker collection [slide 28665]. The allotype female is missing and presumed lost.
