Genus Gomphionema Wieser and Hopper, 1966

Diagnosis: (Modified from Tchesunov (2014)) Cuticle with transversal rows of punctation, lateral differentiation and cuticle pores may be present. Pattern of anterior sensilla 6+6+4, inner and outer labia sensilla papilliform, cephalic sensilla setiform or papilliform. Buccal cavity heavily cuticularized, consisting of an anterior concave chamber and a conico-cylindrical posterior portion, and armed with a massive dorsal tooth not entering the cheilostoma; subventral teeth absent. Amphideal fovea spiral, located near the buccal cavity. Pharyngeal bulb large, “barrel-shaped”. Reproductive system diorchic; both gonads on different sides of the intestine. Males with cup-shaped precloacal supplements; ventral precloacal seta present. Tail conical, usually with rounded tip.
