Psyllaephagus tyche Noyes & Hanson, 1996 View in CoL :127,132-133. Holotype E, Costa Rica, NHMUK, examined.

Female (length about 1.8-2.2mm): head relatively dull metallic blue or green, mesoscutum relatively bright metallic blue contrasting with the scutellum which is dull and coppery in basal half and blue apically with only extreme apex about as shiny as mesoscutum; antenna (Fig. 1603) with scape dark brown; flagellum dark brown; tegula dark brown; femora dark brown; tibiae mostly yellow, each with a narrow, subbasal, brown ring; head (Fig. 1607) about 3X as wide as frontovertex and 2.7X as wide as mouth opening; frontovertex with indistinct, shallow piliferous punctures, hardly larger than eye facet; ocelli forming an angle of about 95°; posterior ocellus slightly nearer eye than occipital margin; scrobes shallow, separated from anterior ocellus by at least about 2X length of torulus; antenna (Fig. 1603) with scape about 3.7X as long as broad and slightly longer than width of frontovertex; pedicel about as long as F1; all funicle segments longer than broad; linear sensilla on all segments; clava with segments becoming gradually shorter towards apex which is rounded; clypeal margin (Fig. 1607) slightly convex, protuberant; mandible with two teeth and a truncation; mesoscutum and scutellum (Fig. 1608) with similar reticulate sculpture, but that on scutellum more elongate; scutellum convex; fore wing (Fig. 1604) about 2.3X as long as broad, marginal vein (Fig. 1611) about 2X as long as broad; costal cell with only a single line of setae dorsally, linea calva closed; gaster with a distinct, strongly reticulate anteromedian area on Gt3; ovipositor (Fig. 1605) about 2X as long as mid tibia, slightly exserted, the exserted part about 0.5X as long as mid tibial spur; second valvifer with about 12 or 13 subapical setae. Male: unknown.

DISTRIBUTION. Costa Rica ( Noyes & Hanson, 1996).

HOSTS. Unknown, but the holotype was collected together with a Calophya Löw ( Hemiptera : Calophyidae ).

Type material. Holotype E: COSTA RICA, Puntarenas, San Vito, Las Cruces, Wilson Botanical Gardens , 1500m, swept with Calophya sp. B . Brown and Hodkinson (det. D. Hollis), 18-22.iii.1990 (J.S. Noyes) . Paratypes: COSTA RICA, 1E, San José, Zurqui de Moravia , 1600m, vii.1990 (P. Hanson) . Holotype and paratype in NHMUK .

Non type material. COSTA RICA, 2E, Heredia, 16km SSE La Virgen, 10°16’N 85°05’W, 1050-1150m, 11/M/TN, 10.ii-21.iv.2001 ( INBio / OET-ALAS). Material in MZUCR and NHMUK GoogleMaps .
