Vertebroscalpellum Newman & Ross, 1998: 572 ; Young, 2007: 35.

Diagnosis. Capitulum armed with?14 calcareous plates; peduncle long and slender, about twice height and less than half width of capitulum; peduncular armament in imbricating sequence of two followed by three plates (2/3-2/3-etc.).

Type species. Arcoscalpellum spinum Newman & Ross, 1998 .

Composition. Five species.

Distribution. Worldwide. Known depth range 535 to 4540 m.

Remarks. Vertebroscalpellum was originally established as a subgenus of Arcoscalpellum Hoek, 1907 and was raised to generic level by Young (2007).
